When a candidate receives an invitation to apply to the Federal Skilled Trades category under the Express Entry system, Citizenship and Immigration Canada use the following criteria to assess the application:
• The candidate MUST meet the required levels in English or French for each language ability (speaking, reading, writing and listening);
• The candidate MUST have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the five years before you apply;
• The candidate MUST meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the National Occupational Classification (NOC), except for needing a certificate of qualification; and
• The Candidate MUST have an offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least one year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.
Please note that our office has vast experience with the Federal Skilled Trades category and with assisting clients with obtaining trade certificates from the relevant authority.
Applicants and their immediate and accompanying family members will have to take a medical examination before coming to Canada.
Only a designated medical practitioner can conduct the medical examinations. The examinations are only valid for 12 months.
Each applicant over the age of 18 must provide police clearances for all countries and states in which they resided for more than 6 months.
